Our serving trays are thin boards, about 18mm thick, that are excellent for placemats, hot pads, displaying food on, whatever really. As they are on the thin side, they do not work well as cutting boards. With strong pressure, you could break the board.
If you put a hot pan on the board, a ring will be left. Not to worry, let it sit overnight and the ring will disappear.
Serving trays that are called STS are made from the same wood stock as the cutting boards meaning they can make a set.
Serving Tray Care:
Any time the wood begins to look dry, take butcher block butter or oil and rub it into the wood, top, bottom, and sides. Let it sit for 30 minutes then wipe clean with a clean cloth. In a dry climate, you may have to do this once a week, in a humid climate, maybe once a month. If you put oily meat on the board, it is recommended you rub some butcher block butter on the board to seal all the pores in the wood.
